This is a reminder that the scheduled power outage will take place tomorrow, Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, as confirmed by Xcel Energy.
Please make sure to prepare accordingly for the outage. We recommend planning ahead for any medical needs, charging essential devices, and minimizing opening refrigerators and freezers during the outage period.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Residents and Businesses of the Town of Center,
Xcel Energy will be performing a major upgrade to the main power feed supplying the Town of Center. This work will require a scheduled power outage on:
Saturday, February 21, 2026
8:00 AM – 2:00 PM (approximately 4–6 hours)Please use this notice to prepare in advance.
RESIDENTS – PREPARE AHEAD
• Charge cell phones, tablets, and battery packs the night before
• Keep flashlights and extra batteries available
• Unplug sensitive electronics to prevent damage from power surges
• Limit opening refrigerator/freezer doors to keep food cold
• Have ready-to-eat food and drinking water availableBUSINESSES
• Plan ahead for register/card reader/internet interruptions
• Protect perishable goods and refrigerated items
• Consider posting notices for customers in advance
• Unplug sensitive equipment to prevent surge damage when power is restoredMEDICAL / OXYGEN USERS
If you rely on oxygen, CPAP machines, refrigerated medication, or other medical equipment, please plan ahead with your provider.
Center School Library & Commons Area will be available during the outage for community members who need a power source for medical use ONLY.
Generator Safety
If using a generator:
- NEVER run it inside a home, garage, or near windows.
- Place it at least 20 feet away from doors and vents.
- Use heavy-duty outdoor extension cords.
- Do not backfeed into your home unless you have a proper transfer switch installed by a licensed electrician.
WHEN POWER RETURNS
• Plug appliances/electronics back in slowly
• Expect brief fluctuations as service stabilizes

Job Title: Utility Worker (Water, Gas, Electric) Location: Town of Center, CO Pay: $21 – $23/hr DOE Employment Type: Full-Time
Description: The Town of Center is hiring a Utility Worker to assist with the operation, maintenance, and repair of our water, gas, and electric systems. This hands-on position involves working with utility lines, meters, and related infrastructure, responding to service calls, and performing inspections.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or GED
· Valid Colorado Driver’s License (Class B CDL preferred or within 6 months)
· Ability to perform physical labor and lift up to 75 lbs
· Experience in utilities is preferred but not required
· Willingness to complete training/certifications in water, gas, or electric
Benefits: Health, dental, vision, retirement plan, paid leave, and training opportunities.
